Flood warnings have once again been issued in Nepal as the nation struggles to cope with the devastating consequences of recent heavy rainfall and subsequent floods. The Nepal Army has been working tirelessly to clear a crucial highway connecting Kathmandu to one of the worst-affected areas, as the Bhotekoshi river swells with rising water levels. This effort has been further complicated by heavy overnight rain, which has not only caused the river to rise but also filled in the excavation area where army rescue teams were making progress.

In a desperate bid to save lives, experts from Nepal, India, and China have joined forces to form specialized tunnel-rescue teams. These teams have been deployed to the Trishuli 3A hydropower site, where 933 workers are reported missing since Wednesday's flood. The trapped individuals are among those employed at the hydropower projects, and the situation has become more urgent with the Nepal Army's report that heavy rainfall has halted progress on the rescue mission.

The Prithivi Highway, a crucial supply route for food and fuel entering Kathmandu, remains mostly operational, though sections of the road are still compromised.

The Nepal Army has been praised for its efforts in the rescue operation, but the ongoing heavy rainfall and rising river levels have made the situation increasingly dangerous. Despite the challenges, the prime minister's office has expressed confidence in the rescue teams, emphasizing their nonstop efforts to search for and rescue those who may be trapped.

"Sometimes they say a flood is coming, then we have to run again to higher ground, even at night. There is also rain," said Govind Shreshta, a local resident. "It's really difficult for me. I have a 72-year-old father and 70-year-old mom. I must carry them and I am exhausted. It's going on like this for those who are still alive."
