Kia Expands Electric Commercial Vehicle Lineup with Debut of the Full-Size PV7 Van

Kia has formally taken the next major step in its commercial vehicle strategy with the introduction of the PV7, an all-electric van engineered to meet the demanding requirements of modern fleet operators and logistics providers. The new vehicle serves as a substantial addition to the South Korean automaker’s dedicated battery-electric commercial portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions across global business sectors.

The official unveiling of the PV7 took place at the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition hosted in Hannover, Germany. Industry observers and commercial fleet managers gathered to inspect the vehicle firsthand, marking an important milestone in Kia’s planned rollout of purpose-built zero-emission work vehicles designed specifically for cargo delivery and passenger shuttle services.

This latest debut builds directly upon the long-term roadmap that Kia initially presented to the public at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2024. During that initial presentation, company leadership outlined ambitious plans to transform the commercial logistics sector through modular, dedicated electric vans, offering preliminary previews of both medium- and large-format concepts.

Following the successful introduction of the smaller PV5 model in 2025, the new PV7 arrives as a significantly larger sibling within the brand's growing vehicle hierarchy. While the PV5 spearheaded the company’s initial entry into the electrified commercial vehicle market, the PV7 is positioned to handle heavier transport duties and accommodate larger volumetric requirements.

Both vehicles fall squarely under Kia’s specialized Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) initiative. This overarching strategy focuses on developing tailored, multi-purpose electric vehicles that combine specialized hardware with practical software ecosystems, allowing businesses to streamline daily operations while reducing carbon footprints.

At the core of the PV7 is the dedicated E-GMP.S architectural platform, a specialized adaptation of the manufacturer’s advanced electric vehicle foundation. Because the platform was engineered strictly for all-electric propulsion with no compromises for internal combustion engines, the underlying chassis maximizes interior efficiency from bumper to bumper.

The inclusion of the E-GMP.S structure provides a completely flat interior floor throughout the cabin and cargo bay. This architectural advantage eliminates the intrusions typically caused by traditional mechanical drivetrains, significantly optimizing usable internal storage space and allowing Kia the flexibility to engineer and release diverse body styles and custom variants as market demands evolve.

To accommodate a wide array of business applications, Kia is launching the PV7 in both Passenger and Cargo configurations. The cargo-focused editions are optimized to maximize cargo volume and payload utility for parcel delivery, trade services, and urban freight, while the passenger versions are tailored to provide comfortable group transit, airport shuttle services, and ride-hailing solutions.

Beneath the vehicle floor, buyers will be able to choose between two different battery capacities: a standard 72-kilowatt-hour pack or an extended 96-kilowatt-hour unit. Both battery options utilize advanced nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) cell chemistry, chosen for its favorable balance of energy density, thermal performance, and sustained operational longevity under rigorous daily commercial cycles.

When equipped with the larger 96-kWh battery pack in the Long Range Cargo specification, the PV7 is rated to achieve up to 285 miles of driving range on a single charge according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). This substantial driving radius is intended to allow commercial operators to complete full daily shifts without requiring mid-day charging stops.

When evaluated against the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) testing methodology, that European WLTP figure translates to an estimated real-world range of approximately 240 miles. Such a range profile offers operational predictability for fleet managers overseeing regional distribution networks, intercity transit routes, and intensive multi-stop urban delivery routes.

Rapid turnaround times are further supported by the van’s native 800-volt electrical architecture. By operating at higher voltage levels, the PV7 is capable of accepting ultra-fast direct-current charging, allowing operators to replenish the battery packs swiftly during scheduled driver breaks and significantly minimizing costly fleet downtime during working hours.

In terms of mechanical performance, the electric powertrain in the PV7 is tuned to deliver an impressive maximum output of 268 horsepower alongside 309 pound-feet of instant torque. Total power ratings and output curves may vary depending on specific market requirements, regional regulations, and particular trim configurations chosen by buyers.

At market launch, the PV7 will be delivered exclusively in a front-wheel-drive mechanical layout, providing dependable traction and predictable handling characteristics for urban navigation. Kia has confirmed that all-wheel-drive configurations are currently in development and will be integrated into the vehicle lineup at a later date to better serve regions with challenging weather or demanding topographical conditions.

The commercial rollout of the PV7 will commence initially in South Korea and key European markets, regions where regulatory frameworks and infrastructure expansion have created robust demand for zero-emission commercial transport. These territories will serve as the proving ground for the larger PBV model before potential broader global distribution.

With the addition of the PV7 to its lineup, Kia continues to accelerate its broader commercial electrification strategy. By offering a purpose-built, highly modular platform designed specifically for commercial efficiency, the automaker is staking an aggressive claim in the competitive race to electrify business fleets across the globe.
