Chinese automotive supplier Hirain Technologies and Israeli radar developer Arbe Robotics have been selected by an undisclosed major automaker to deliver advanced imaging radar systems for a Level 3 automated driving program. The commercial contract encompasses multiple vehicle brands operating under the parent automotive group, marking a significant deployment of high-resolution sensor hardware in the commercial passenger vehicle sector.
The production initiative is specifically targeted at passenger cars bound for the Chinese market. Under the agreed production timeline, commercial series deliveries of the imaging radar hardware are scheduled to begin during the fourth quarter of 2027, arriving in advance of the vehicle line's broader start of series production.
Within the collaborative project structure, Beijing-based Hirain Technologies will spearhead the manufacturing, supply chain logistics, and vehicle-level integration of the comprehensive radar assembly. Hirain intends to direct its existing industrial manufacturing setup to handle end-to-end system development, rigorous automotive validation routines, and long-term quality assurance standards.
By managing the physical production and mechanical integration, Hirain will ensure that the advanced sensor assemblies meet the stringent tier-one supply chain criteria demanded by the vehicle manufacturer. The Tier-1 supplier's engineering divisions will oversee the full lifecycle of the radar unit, from initial design adaptation through to final validation and factory-line readiness.
Hirain Chief Technology Officer Chengjian Fan highlighted the strategic significance of the commercial win, noting that the selection for such a sophisticated Level 3 program demonstrates broad confidence in the joint technological offering. Fan stated that the achievement reflects the group's ability to execute against the exacting standards set by a leading global vehicle manufacturer, adding that Arbe’s specialized radar hardware proved instrumental in securing the deal.
At the core of the imaging radar assembly is Arbe Robotics' proprietary ultra-high-resolution chipset architecture. The specialized semiconductor setup is designed to generate exceptionally dense and granular radar point-cloud data, supplying the continuous flow of environmental perception required by the vehicle’s central automated driving computer.
This high-density sensor feedback is critical for Level 3 driving operations, where the autonomous system temporarily assumes operational control of the vehicle under specific conditions. By delivering clear spatial detail across varied environmental conditions, the imaging radar platform feeds vital object-detection metrics directly into the host vehicle's central computing brain.
The latest agreement represents a deepening of the established commercial alliance between Hirain and Arbe. While the two firms have worked together previously on automotive radar systems, the new automaker contract broadens their collaborative footprint directly into the rapidly expanding commercial Level 3 automated driving domain.
Founded in 2003, Hirain Technologies has grown into a major supplier of automotive electronics and intelligent mobility solutions from its headquarters in the Chinese capital of Beijing. The company provides a diversified suite of systems and engineering services across the broader transportation industry, spanning advanced automotive electronics, research and development consulting, specialized vehicles, and intelligent traffic platforms.
Hirain supports its global client base through an extensive international network of technical facilities. The enterprise operates research, development, and engineering service hubs in key automotive markets including mainland China, the United States, Germany, and Malaysia.
The company's industrial manufacturing capabilities are anchored by four dedicated production plants. Hirain maintains three domestic manufacturing centers situated in Tianjin, Nantong, and Nanchang, alongside an overseas manufacturing facility based in Malacca, Malaysia, which collectively support its automotive hardware supply contracts.
Arbe Robotics, based in Tel Aviv, Israel, specializes in the design and development of next-generation perception radar systems. Alongside its primary headquarters and engineering facilities in Israel, the technology company maintains an international corporate presence with branch offices located across the United States, Germany, and China.
The company’s technology portfolio centers on automotive-grade Radio Frequency (RF) transmitter and receiver chips, paired with proprietary radar processing silicon. These integrated components work in tandem to process high-throughput radar signals and deliver real-time spatial awareness without placing unsustainable computing burdens on the vehicle platform.
In addition to discrete chipsets, Arbe develops complete sensing platforms such as its flagship Phoenix radar system. Designed around an architecture featuring 2,304 virtual channels, the Phoenix solution is engineered to support a diverse spectrum of mobility sectors, ranging from consumer passenger cars and autonomous robotaxis to heavy industrial machinery and defense installations.
With commercial deliveries slated for late 2027, the multi-brand Level 3 contract solidifies the industrial partnership between Hirain and Arbe as automakers prepare next-generation automated passenger models for the Chinese automotive market.
